BLUE MONDAY
Mar 21 2002 ~ I never could figure out why this song was called Blue Monday, but just had to make a blue piece using the lyrics. I've been listening to the Orgy version rather than the New Order one, but I suppose either one works. Captures are from Smashed, Wrecked, Gone, Dead Things, As You Were and Normal Again. Quotes are from Wrecked, Dead Things & As You Were. Grunge brushes used are by Sarah Michelle (not Gellar, as far as I know! ;) ) downloaded from her website aircrash.nu. Fonts are Twentieth Century Condensed & Staccato222. I used the noise->median filter on a luminiosity mask, plus a bunch of different overlaid, filtered layers to create the essential collage, and then roughed it up with the grunge brushes and added the background text on a partially masked color-burn layer. It should be fairly obvious that the b/s quotes used relate to and/or answer the blue monday lyric closest to them. I also tried to put images from illustrative scenes in the vicinity too, though that was a bit harder and probably not as clear unless you happen to know BtVS well enough to say oh, yeah, that capture is from *that* scene, I get it. Actually, that could be a fun little challenge: can you name all the scenes for all the captures used? Not that I have a prize or anything, but I'll tell you if you're right, and/or fill in the blanks if you e-mail me...
